New show coming up soon. This time I am walking the boards at the Blue Room in Perth with the August season of Threshold. (https://blueroom.org.au/events/threshold/) I play the part of Peter, an ambitious politician in a controversial subject.

I have accepted a part in Noel Coward's Design for Living. I shall be playing the part of Otto, one of the three leads in the play. Check out my Live Blog page for more updates. https://hamreflections.wordpress.com
Fianlly, the short film Hunting the Unknown that I appear in has been released for Public viewing. It is an interesting little piece, and another where I basically don't say a thing.
Last Sunday, I made a return to the web series I helped start. Now called Popcorn, I have been editing the series for the last three seasons. As circumstance would have it, I had the rare oportunity to make a return visit. It was a bit of a slow news week, so (as editor) I had to do a little creative filling. The short film I feature in, Hunting the Unknown, is currently looking for backers. A few dollars here or there among a few people would really make a difference. Can you help out? I am now the host for a locally produced Film and Theatre Information Show brought to you by Herding Cats Productions. Follow the Link to see the first five episodes. We have started of small and rather cheesy, and slowly developed our approach and technique.
I am finding the challenge of acting as host interesting, and... well... challenging. It is very different to acting, or performing. I am learning a new way of talking to make editing easier, and to ensure that I am heard clearly. It does make it hard to develop a character, which is the next step, for the show, but I am confident that once I have the habit of speaking as a host, that a character will start to flow through. We have some rather big plans for the future of the show, and we are looking at interviewing all aspects of Film, Theatre, and other performance arts, including Cosplay, Make-up, Costume, Production, and so on. Right now, I am looking for create interview subjects to offer up some of their experiences and knowledge. If you are someone like this, or know of someone like this, get in contact with me and I will arrange a time for you to come on our show. In a little over a week from today, my next show opens up - "A Finger in the Dyke" - a play that spoofs Reality TV. In particular, Cooking Reality TV. I play the part of Clifford, the falling Celebrity Chef who can make or break any restaurant in his live Restaurant Review show. However, things are not as they seem and the story takes an interesting twist as the reality of life overwhelms the reality of TV. Tickets can be purchased online at the official Web Site. On April the 19th, 2014, a number of cast members will be presenting a number of sneak peak clips of The Silent City as well as answering questions about the movie. This presentation is thanks to Swancon 39 - Conjuration who have welcomed us to their series of panels. Details about the session can be found on the Swancon Programme and the panel will consist of Anthony Ciccotosto, Sarah Harris, David Partridge, Andreas Piechulik, Marcelle Weber and myself. This will be a rare opportunity to talk with cast on the cusp of the film itself being released, and find out a bit more about it. In other new, this weekend I will be filming the promotional video for my next project, Good With Words. I am very much looking forward to working with a new bunch of talented people. As long as everything goes well, we will be filming in the new financial year. Been a while since I posted last and I have a few things to update. Firstly, I didn't get a role in the last audition, but I was short-listed. I have it on good authority that it was down to 5 applicants in a very strong field. I feel pretty good about that. So at this time, no more Irishman. In the future, who knows.
Then I had another audition, for Good With Words, which I did get, so in a couple of months I shall be playing the part of Mr Richard Price, Creative Writing Teacher. Then, in an interesting little tale, I am about to direct a lovely little comedy piece call A Finger in the Dyke. (Pause for inevitable chuckling.) I actually played one of the parts a couple of years back, so I was rather stunned when I was approached to direct the show also, by the original rights own and director. To say I felt rather honoured would be an understatement. So ather than being the auditionee, I am not the auditioner. Without going in to extreme detail, we had a very challenging audition process and eventually had to make a rather hard choice by the end of it. We had enough people audition to fill all but one of the roles. At that point we had two choices;
As a side note, I will also be making appearances as the MC for the Good With Words Quiz Night this Saturday night. I think maybe I can make this a thing. MC that is... Rather than a posting, today is a Video Blog. Hopefully the first of many. Please excuse the gag mentality of the recording. I couldn't resist. I gave me plenty of laughs. |
