Then I had another audition, for Good With Words, which I did get, so in a couple of months I shall be playing the part of Mr Richard Price, Creative Writing Teacher.
Then, in an interesting little tale, I am about to direct a lovely little comedy piece call A Finger in the Dyke. (Pause for inevitable chuckling.) I actually played one of the parts a couple of years back, so I was rather stunned when I was approached to direct the show also, by the original rights own and director. To say I felt rather honoured would be an understatement. So ather than being the auditionee, I am not the auditioner.
Without going in to extreme detail, we had a very challenging audition process and eventually had to make a rather hard choice by the end of it. We had enough people audition to fill all but one of the roles. At that point we had two choices;
- Hold more auditions until we could fill all roles
- Cut our loses and fill a role with existing cast or crew.
As a side note, I will also be making appearances as the MC for the Good With Words Quiz Night this Saturday night. I think maybe I can make this a thing. MC that is...
